Iwobi, Arsenal suffer first Europa League defeat

Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi was on the losing side with Arsenal who lost by a lone goal to BATE Borisov of Belarus in the round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.

Iwobi who was on for the entire game, played from the right flank and in the 50th minute floated a cross towards the the back post where Maitland-Niles and Mkhitaryan were waiting, but neither player could get a decisive touch on the ball.

Bate were able to sustain their lead from the 45th minute when Stanislav Dragun put them in front after heading the ball into the net from a free kick.

Arsenal had the ball in the back of the net as well in the 55th minute when Alexandre Lacazette converted from close range a low cross from Kolasinac but it was ruled as offside.

Unfortunately for Lacazette he was sent off in the 85th minute for elbowing Alexandre Filipovic who had grabbed him by the waist to compound a miserbale night for the Gunners who were suffering their first defeat of the Europa campaign this season.
