Iwobi seals Arsenal victory as Aubameyang scores brace

 

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi made effective use of his 13 minutes on the pitch to post an impressive run in Arsenal victory on Saturday.

Iwobi who came in as late substitute for Lacazette combined with Germany international Mesut Özil to produce a photo finish strike as Arsenal recorded a well-deserved 3-1 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.

The Iwobi/Ozil third goal which came in the closing minutes of the game was particularly impressive.

Ozil after making a fantastic dribble displacing two Burley players, laid a pass to Iwobi who did not waste time in finishing the well-executed project, in fashion the Japanese would describe as Yoi shikō yoi seihin (Good thinking, good product).

The Gunners coming from a back to back defeat by Spurs and Southampton respectively took charge of the game from the outset with Aubameyang grabbing the first goal in the 14th minutes after a timely assist from Kolašinac.

The Gabon international was completed his brace in the 48th minute with the assist this time coming from Frenchman Lacazette.

Burnley’s consolation goal came in the 63rd minute thanks to Austria import Ashley Barnes.  But the icing on the cake was the final goal by Alex Iwobi in the 91st minute.  Arsenal last had a resounding victory against in a 4-2 defeat of Spurs on the December 2nd; interestingly they suffered a revenge defeat in the hands of same spurs 19th December in the league Quarterfinal tie.

The Emirates landlord did however earn a lone goal victory over Qarabağ in the Europa tie December 13.

Arsenal will next travel to Brighton & Hove Albion for their Boxing Day fixture, whereas Burnley host Everton at Turf Moor.
