Ronaldo boosted Juventus agree new deal with Adidas

Juventus have extended their deal with kit supplier Adidas until 2027 in a move that will earn the Italian champions £46million per season.

Their existing six-year contract with the German sportswear brand, signed in 2015, is worth £125m excluding bonuses or just over £20m a season.

But Juve’s consistent success on the field and last summer’s £100m signing of Cristiano Ronaldo has boosted their commercial appeal so the new eight-year deal is worth £367m altogether.

The acquisition of Ronaldo from Real Madrid was a large factor in an additional bonus payment of £13.5m being paid by Adidas this year for the; increased visibility’ of the brand.

The club are well on course to win an eighth consecutive Serie A title, sitting some eight points clear of second-placed Napoli.

In addition, they are through to the last-16 of the Champions League, where they have been drawn against Atletico Madrid.

A club statement released on Friday read: ‘Juventus Football Club S.p.A. and adidas Italy S.p.A. have modified the official partner agreement and extended the term of the agreement until 30 June 2027,’ the club confirmed in a statement.

‘The current agreement, which would expire on 30 June 2021, covered six football seasons starting from 2015/2016.

‘The new agreement will relate to the period starting with season 2019/2020 and cover in total eight football seasons until 2026/2027.

‘During this period adidas will be the technical partner of all Juventus teams for a minimum fixed consideration of €408m. The consideration does not include additional royalty payments upon exceeding a threshold of sales and sports performance bonuses.

‘With respect to the excellent performance of the commercial partnership and to the increased visibility of the Juventus brand in 2018, adidas recognized an additional bonus of €15 million for 2018, which will be paid prior to 31 December 2018.

‘The other terms and conditions of the existing contract remain unchanged until the start of the new agreement in season 2019/2020.’

A slick video was also released to mark the signing of the new deal featuring the club’s successes over the last four years since the association with Adidas started.

At one point, Paul Pogba, who joined Manchester United in an £89m deal in 2016, can be seen celebrating a goal.
