Kaizer Chiefs sack coach after turbulent start to the season

South African league giants Kaizer Chiefs say they have parted ways with head coach Molefi Ntseki following a turbulent start to the season.

Chiefs confirmed on their Twitter that following a meeting, Ntseki’s will end his short tenure as Amakhosi coach.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Arthur Zwane was demoted and will “return to his former role within the development structures of the Club”.

Ntseki was appointed as head coach of the club at the start of the 2023/24 season, but results have not been forthcoming.

Ntseki, who coached Bafana Bafana from 2019 to 2021, was Amakhosi’s head of technical and youth development, however there is no indication whether he’ll return to his previous post.

On Saturday, Chiefs bowed out of the opening round of the Carling Knockout, losing 1-0 to AmaZulu. Following the match, the situation escalated as objects were thrown by the club’s fans towards Ntseki and the players.

 Chiefs have only won three of their nine games, and as a result, sit eighth on the log this season
