Kane could be out for rest of season— Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Harry Kane’s season may have come to an end  after he suffered another injury to his left ankle in Tuesday’s a 1-0 victory against Manchester City at Wembley.

Kane twisted his ankle in a challenge with Fabian Delph and had to be brought out.  The striker is just returning to the pitch six weeks after sustaining a smilar injury.

This is his third injury in 13 months which is a big blow to Spurs who need the striker to help not only in their Champions League progression this season, but also qualification for next year.

“Very sad” injury to the Spurs striker could rule the 25-year-old out for the remainder of the campaign.

“It’s very, very sad,” Pochettino said. “It’s going to be tough and we’re going to miss him – maybe for the rest of the season.”

Pochettino added that City should still be considered the favourites to progress to the semi-finals.

“It was an unbelievable game, so tough. We’re happy but Man City are still the favourites and there’s still a second leg which is going to be tough. We showed great quality and the performance was good.

“It was a very good game, we were excited and motivated to play a quarter-final, the penalty save was fantastic and gave the belief to us. And I think that with the spirit we played today anything is possible.”
