With two weeks already in the season, the 2019–2020 La Liga season, also known as La Liga
Santander is the 89th since its establishment. It kicked off August 17, 2019, to be ending on the 24th
May 2020. Three freshly-promoted Osasuna, Granada CF, and Mallorca have kicked off the new season and been promoted to the LaLiga league and these clubs will also feature in this season, LaLiga Santander.

Speaking to pressmen in Lagos, Ex Nigeria International and Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju threw light on reasons why LaLiga would be referred to as best league in the world. He also gave his view on what the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has to do in other to meet up with the level and standard of international leagues.

“It is the best league in the world not only saying it but there’s enough to show for it from the past eleven champions league, LaLiga has won seven and in the Europa Cup LaLiga has won six, so many clubs, big players in the world are all playing for LaLiga and LaLiga player has won (Ballon d’or) ten times, so there are so many
exciting things bout LaLiga including the television coverage.”

“I think Rome was not built in a day and LaLiga has started so many years, this is the 90th anniversary and we have been improving every day. For the Nigeria league to get to that level we have to start gradually and we also have to improve in so many things and I will implore the new minister of Sport to see into this sports
facilities. We could see that LaLIga, there are group stadiums, facilities, that’s why Nigeria football league is not as attractive as LaLiga. But I believe if we start gradually improving our facilities and clubs, I believe we can get to the top,” LaLiga ambassador added.

On his own part, LaLiga Delegate to Nigeria, Guillermo Pérez Castelló further said: “We are happy to bring to our Nigerian fans another season of exciting football experience. This season, LaLiga plans to reinforce its commitment to the Nigerian market through partnerships such as the LaLiga – NPFL coaching seminar for Nigerian youth coaches, the LaLiga – NPFL U-15 tournament, the MoU signing with the NWFL to bolster women’s sports, the partnership with HiFL and LaLiga’s partnership with Lagos Business School to provide sports business management programs”.

He added: “For us it’s super important to have this kind of partnership because our sponsors are key, everything we talked about today about our international strategies, about building a better product everything is within our sponsors. We are very happy for having new sponsors on board they are going to help us grow globally and here in Nigeria.”
