‘Lautaro to Barca would help Argentina’

Argentina manager, Lionel Scaloni has reiterated that his team would stand to gain an ‘advantage’ if Lautaro Martinez left Inter for Barcelona.

Scaloni’s comments come after he claimed just two weeks ago that it would be ‘better’ for Argentina if Martinez also became Lionel Messi’s strike partner at club level.

“It would be an advantage for us, but Lautaro’s still young,” he told TyC Sports.

“He has a lot to learn and also, like happened at Inter, he has to fight for his place at Barca.

“We must give him time to get where his compatriots like Aguero are: he certainly has a great future ahead of him, but I repeat he still has to improve a lot.

“There’s a lot of talk about Lautaro right now, but Kun [Aguero] is breaking every record: from time to time, we’ll decide who we give our [No 9] shirt to.

“After all, should he really go to Barcelona, the Blaugrana coach would have the same problem as me: picking who to play from an array of top forwards.”

The latest report from Sport claims the 22-year-old has agreed a €12m salary with Barca but that Inter are refusing to sell him for any less than €111m.
