Leicester boss in search of replacement for Iheanacho, Vardy, others

Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers, is planning a complete overhauling of the club’s attacking department after Sunday’s last day loss to Manchester United.

According to the manager, the Leicester City attackers have not been creative enough to rescue the club in times of difficulties.

Among Leicester City front liners include  Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Perez, and George Hirst

In a bid to beef up the team ahead of subsequent challenges, Rodgers has decided to enter the transfer market to buy the best creative legs.

Rodgers will be seeking to improve – and also deepen – his squad with a Europa League campaign to navigate next term.

After defeat to Manchester United , he said: “We must strengthen the attack. We have done well and have improved. We knew we had to score at least 65 goals this season and we scored 67. But to compete with the other top teams we need to have more creativity and quality.

“We have been hit in the defence in the last period, where three out of four in our backline have been out. But I’m happy with the way we defend. We want to add some more creativity to the attack.”

Meanwhile, Leicester City winger, Demarai Gray, is attracting interest from Newcastle United over a potential switch to Tyneside this summer.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Toon boss Steve Bruce has the 24-year-old on his radar and will swoop for his services if the Foxes decided to let him leave the club.

Gray is out of contract next summer and the former England under-21 international could be allowed to exit for a cut-price fee rather than let him leave for nothing if a new deal cannot be negotiated.

However, the Telegraph claim that the player would not be averse to running his contract down before exploring his options as a free agent next summer.

Gray has found regular starts hard to come by in Rodgers’ team since the turn of the year but has figured 29 times this season.

The winger has found the net three times and scored his last goal in the 2-0 win over Sheffield United earlier this month when he came off the bench.

He is another player to be linked with an exit from the Foxes with Islam Slimani having also reportedly been offered to Tottenham.

But James Maddison’s future looks secure having signed a four-year deal with the club, according to The Athletic.
