Liverpool vs Sheffield United: Klopp set to play 4-3-3 lineup

Liverpool take on Sheffield United in the Premier League this evening – and Jurgen Klopp is expected to make three changes to his starting lineup.

Following their Club World Cup exploits earlier this month, the Reds still have two games-in-hand to play in the league, meaning they could eventually move an astonishing 16 points clear at the top of the table.

The first of those games comes tonight against Chris Wilder’s Blades, who visit Anfield nine points clear of the relegation zone up in eighth.

They are without a win in their last two games, nevertheless, after drawing at home to Watford on Boxing Day and losing 2-0 away at Manchester City on Sunday.

Klopp’s men, on the other hand, have claimed victory in each of their last 10 Premier League outings and will be hoping to keep their near-flawless record intact this evening.

The Liverpool boss will be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nathaniel Clyne, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri, while Rhian Brewster is a doubt.

In goal, Alisson will be aiming to keep his fifth consecutive clean sheet.

The Brazilian shot-stopper is likely to sit behind a back four consisting of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson.

Klopp resisted changing his side in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Wolves, so expect him to shuffle his pack slightly this evening.

James Milner and Naby Keita should come in to form a midfield three with Jordan Henderson, sitting either side of the Reds captain.

There could also be a start for Divock Origi over on the left flank, with Mohamed Salah positioned on the right.

And Roberto Firmino is expected to be leading the Liverpool line tonight.

The Merseyside outfit have enjoyed the joint-best first half of a season in Premier League history, only slipping up so far in a 1-1 draw away at arch-rivals Manchester United.
