Madagascar makes u-turn, cancels friendly against Bafana Bafana

Madagascar have cancelled their international friendly against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana billed
for September 7 at the Orlando Stadium.

Madagascar was a late replacement for Zambia who pulled out as a result of the Xenophobic attacks on Africans in South Africa.

No reason was given for the sudden cancellation which still may not be unconnected to the attacks in South
Africa.

In a tweet on Thursday, Bafana’s official twitter handle confirmed The Barea will not honor the
invitation to play in the Country.

“Breaking News: SAFA regrets to inform the public that the match between Bafana Bafana and Madagascar scheduled for this coming Saturday (7 September) has been called off after the visitors (Madagascar) decided to withdraw from the encounter,” the tweet read.

There has been a condemnation of the barbaric acts as well as calls for Africa to unite.
