Man U ace Elanga torn between England and Sweden

Cameroon born Manchester United star Anthony Elanga may play his international football for England even as Sweden  remains confident the winger will commit to them.

The 19-year-old came on the scene under Ralf Rangnick in recent weeks after having very few first-team opportunities from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier in the season.

Elanga has started each of United’s last three Premier League games and found the back of the net in the 3-1 win over Brentford earlier this month.

The FA reportedly has yet to try to convince him to switch with Sweden, confident the winger will commit to them

His form has reportedly attracted the attention of the FA who, according to The Sunare aware that Elanga’s stay in the UK means he can play his international football for England.

Elanga has represented Sweden in the youth ranks of international football after being born there and played for Malmö earlier in his career. He has scored eight caps for the country’s under-21s and scored seven goals.

He was so impressive that Swedish national team manager Janne Andersson wanted him in his squad this week for a training camp in Portugal, but Rangnick demanded he stay in Manchester.

Elanga, the son of ex-Cameroonian defender Joseph Elanga, joined the United Academy at the age of 12, but Sweden is confident the winger is committed to them.

The English FA are also thought to be taking no real steps to make him switch allegiances, but it’s a possibility if his sensational form continues.

Rangnick revealed that he had watched footage of Elanga on YouTube before taking over at Old Trafford and immediately knew he had a talent on his hands.
