Manchester United, Barcelona in rivalry for Milan Skriniar

Manchester United will reportedly face competition from Barcelona for the signature of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar next summer.

The Red Devils have tracked the 24-year-old for a couple of years, with the club reportedly making a bid in the region of £54m earlier this year.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are on the lookout for reinforcements at the back ahead Samuel Umtiti’s probable departure from the Camp Nou at the end of the season.

According to Tuttosport, United will face competition from the Catalans should they decide to make another bid for Skriniar next year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s need for a central defender has diminished following the arrival of Harry Maguire over the summer for a world-record £80m fee.

It is claimed that the Norwegian has placed primary emphasis on securing a striker over the January transfer window.
