United are in the market for a striker in January having left themselves short in attack following the club’s decision to dispense with and fail to replace attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have made initial contact with Bayern ahead of launching a potential bid for the German striker.

Muller has spent the entirety of his club career at Bayern, scoring 110 Bundesliga goals since making his senior debut in 2008.
