Messi free to discuss Barca exit in January
Lionel Messi is free to speak with clubs abroad from January over the possibility of a summer transfer when his contract expires at Barcelona.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner wanted to leave the Nou Camp before the start of the 2020-21 season, but reluctantly stayed after now-former president Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted his €700m release clause had to be met.

There will be nothing to prevent Messi from leaving in 2021, however, and the 33-year-old could end what would be a 20-year association with Barca should he decide to pursue another project.
Manchester City are favourites to sign the forward, although Neymar’s desire for a reunion with Messi means PSG could use their financial muscle to bring him to the French capital.
