Modric wins man of the match against Argentina

Luca Modric has been named the Budweiser man of the Match after Croatia stunned Argentina 3-0 to reach the knockout stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Modric scored Croatia’s second goal which was a stunner after Eintrancht Frankfurt of Germany striker Ante Rebic had given the Croatians the lead following an error from Argentina keeper Caballero.

Barcelona midfielder Rakitic wrapped up victory for the European nation which sealed the three points and secure qualification into the round of 16.

This would be the second time Modric would be winning the award in the competition after emerging the MOTM against Nigeria in last Saturday’s Group D encounter at the Kaliningrad Arena.

It’s the first time that Croatia have progressed past the World Cup group stages since their third-placed debut in 1998.

Croatia top Group D with six points and will face iceland in their last game next Tuesday.
