The 19-year-old midfielder is a product of the Spurs academy and has been around the senior group this season.

But he’s only played in six games across all competitions, with no starts yet in his three Premier League appearances.

He’s a ball-playing defensive midfielder that is extremely efficient in possession and has plenty of composure, as well as being an enforcer that breaks up play.

Mourinho has spoken about rising talent in the same breath as teammate Japhet Tanganga, stating that they both have big futures ahead of them.

20-year-old defender Tanganga is another success story to come out of the academy and he’s been able to become a regular in the starting XI in recent weeks under Mourinho.

“He (Tanganga) is already in the dressing room, with Skipp. Both fantastic kids, both kids we believe in a lot. The difference with Japhet is that his opportunity appeared, but Skippy has not had the opportunity to play many matches. But both are in the first-team dressing room and our objective is to make them Tottenham players for many years,” Mourinho said, as quoted by Football.London.

Skipp has played 18 first-team games in his young career so far and has shown enough to suggest he can have a big future.

But given the amount of options in the centre of the park within the Spurs squad, it may have been better to send the midfielder out on loan in January.

They sent Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton on loan in January for the rest of the season to help his development and star centre-forward Harry Kane is a prime example of how effective the loan system can be.
