Ndidi in race for Europe’s top tackler

Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi continued to show his quality in the English Premiership and this has earned him a spot in the race for Europe’s top tackler.

According to LeicesterShireLive, Ndidi and his Leicester City teammate – Ricardo Pereira have been listed among the top 20 with the most tackles in Europe’s top five leagues.

With Ndidi occupying sixth place in the list, while Pereira is fourth, the duo will have to raise their games in the remaining 12 matches of the English Premier League season in their bid to emerge as Europe’s top tackler.

Leicester City is the only English Premier League side with two of its players in the race for the gong.

Other players in the English Premier League in the race for the title Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Everton’s midfield destroyer Idrissa Gueye who are currently tied for the lead on 96 completed tackles.

Alaixys Romao, a defensive midfielder for French side Reims, is third on 90, and then it’s Ricardo, who has made 89 successful tackles in his debut City season so far.

Ndidi is in sixth, level with Wolves’ Joao Moutinho on 86.

The former Nath Boys FC star needs to be more aggressive on the pitch if he hopes to equal his figure from last season, when he recorded 138 tackles to comfortably finish as the Premier League’s best.

In terms of City’s in-house tackling crown, Ricardo and Ndidi have no other challengers.
