Ndidi sees yellow as Leicester end winless run hit Chelsea 1-0

Super Eagles midfielder Wilifred Ndidi was in action for 90 minutes as Leicester city earned a lone goal victory away to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Ndidi who nonetheless saw yellow in the 31st minute of the match rattled the Blues at a point with a thunderous effort from 30 yards, but Kepa Arrizabalaga produced a fine one-handed save to tip the midfielder’s rising shot over the crossbar. The much needed goal eventually came in the 51st minute through Jamie Vardy.

The lone goal victory ends a three match winning drought for the Leicester City and a lifeline for Coach Claude Puel is reportedly facing a battle to keep his job in the dugout, but a second-half goal from Jamie Vardy proved enough to earn the Foxes an impressive win.

While Ndidi was in action for the entire duration of the match, compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was a late substitute for goal scorer Jamie Vardy in the 84th minute thus handing the Nigerian a slightly over six minutes action. Saturday’s defeat marks Chelsea’s first home defeat of the season.

Chelsea almost took the lead as early as the second minute when a long ball over the top of the defence was flicked marginally wide of the post by Willian, and the home side remained in the ascendancy during the opening stages.

Leicester were sitting deep and inviting pressure from the Blues, and it almost worked against them in the 17th minute when Pedro flicked a header just past the far post. Chelsea maintained a possession ration of 64 to 36 against the visitors who appeared determined to grabbed the goal no matter what

While the duo of Ndidi and Iheanacho were in action for the foxes same cannot be said of Victor Moses who remains on the sidelines for Chelsea.

Moses who shortly after the world cup in Russia quit the national team to enable him concentrate on club assignment has not been having a jolly ride at the Bridge with fillers emerging that he might be heading for fresh loan deal in January.

The former Wigan Athletic ace who joined Chelsea in 2012 has undertaken three loan deals in the course his career with the Blues with the loans taking him to Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham respectively.
