Ndidi shifts focus to AFCON 2019

After making an immense contribution to Leicester City ninth-place finish in the English Premier League this season, Windred Ndidi has shifted focus to the 2019 African Cup of nations (AFCON) holding next month in Egypt.

Already, Nigeria has been drawn in Group B alongside Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar and the Super Eagles has scheduled friendly matches against Zimbabwe and Senegal before their first group match against Burundi on June 22 in Alexandria.

Ndidi was in action at the weekend in his team’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea and the former Nath Boys FC midfielder finished the season as the division’s best tackler, beating the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He was an ever-present figure in the Leicester set-up, featuring in all 38 of Leicester’s Premier League games, a feat only two other Nigerians have managed before.

“Season done, thank you for all your incredible support. Unto the next. Afcon preparations,” Ndidi captioned a post on Instagram.
