New agent in contact with Liverpool, Man Utd as Osimhen’s €81m move gets messy

Victor Osimhen’s new agent is in contact with Liverpool and Manchester United over a summer transfer, claims a prominent Italian journalist.

The Lille striker looked all set to make an €81m move to Napoli this week, according to L’Equipe.

The 21-year-0ld striker seemed destined to seal a transfer to Italy that would have increased his salary seven-fold, but that now all appears to be off.

Osimhen has changed agents to William D’Avila and although a move still looks more than likely this summer, negotiations will have to start form scratch.

“We are in the final stage of discussions, the player has made his choice,” Lille director Marc Ingla told a press conference on Thursday. “It is a regret to see him leave but we must be aware of the strength of the market.”

With Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli confirming that a change of agents for the player has curtailed their move.

“Osimhen is a very good player, but there are lots of other teams who want him and we’re working on other fronts too,” Guintoli told DAZN.

“He changed his agent, so now we have to start all over again. It’s a complex and difficult set of negotiations.”

And that is where journalist Alfredo Pedulla comes in.

He has told SportItalia, as cited by AreaNapoli, that the new agent has not yet closed any deal and is in fact contact with Liverpool and Manchester United.

“Osimhen’s new agent has shuffled the cards, he spoke with Liverpool and Manchester United. More with Liverpool. And he asked Napoli for time he wanted…”

Get French Football News has reported that Osimhen’s old agent Jean-Gérard Benoit Czajka has threatened “virtually everyone in the deal with legal action”.

Osimhen, who has been mentioned as a target for Spurs, has been linked with Liverpool previously this summer.

Only recently Le 10 Sport had reported that Liverpool were leading the race for Osimhen, while L’Equipe stated Liverpool’s interest remains.
