New NANPF President Babangida tips Eagles for AFCON success

Former Super Eagles player, Tijani Babangida who emerged as President, National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers, NANPF yesterday has tipped the present squad of the Super Eagles to surprise all by winning the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

 

Babangida also vowed to offer useful tips and advice to team handler Gernot Rohr when necessary as part of his association’s contribution to help the national team achieve success.

“We can only advice the Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr on the team’s issues. But I can honestly tell you that the Eagles are on the part of achieving success in the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Despite the team’s failure to qualify to the second round of 2018 World Cup in Russia, the team came back and now fortified by the inclusion of talented players who are relatively young.

” So Rohr is doing a great job at the moment and the team is doing great also. All the team has to do now is to concentrate on its preparation for the 2019 AFCON and also work very had towards achieving success in the competition. The players fighting spirit must be high in every match and they must continue to be ambitious to win the competition”, the former International disclosed to Sportinglife.ng shortly after he was elected.

Babangida’s emergence was sequel to the stepping down of his only opponent, Ashifat Olayinka Sulayman  for Kwara United club assignment.

Other notable elected officials included Clement Temile as 1st vice President, Elisha Golbe as 2nd Vice President, Patrick Pascal as Financial  Secretary Edema Fuludu as Treasurer, Shuaibu Yakubu as PRO, Mutiu Adepoju as Trustee, Abdul Sule Trustee, Victor Ezeji Trustee, Chikelu Iloeyonsi Internal auditor 1, Ekpo Efionwan internal auditor II, Ogidi Mohammed Mutairu Ex officio member.  Austin Popo General Secretary,  Danladi Musa, David Aigbovo, Joshua Kator as Assistant General Secretaries.
