NFF/Aiteo Awards: Musa deserves Best Player award says Rohr

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has hailed the choice of Eagles’ stand in Captain Ahmed Musa as the winner of the Aiteo/NFF’s Best Player of the Year Award.

The Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia striker won the award ahead of Arsenal FC of England striker Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo in Monday’s awards held at the Eko Hotels and Suites.

Rohr who has been working with Musa since after the Russia 2018 World Cup when team Captain John Mikel Obi has been indisposed has seen enough of Musa’s contributions to the Eagles and believed the Al Nassr striker deserved the award for the year just ended.

According to Rohr, Musa performed creditably well during last year’s World Cup where he was Eagles best striker with two goals while also scoring and leading the Eagles to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt as from June this year.

“I am very happy with the Nigeria’s Best Player of the Year award won by my player and team stand in Captain Ahmed Musa on Monday.

“I think it is very good for him. He has been one of our best players and also a good Captain in the absence of Obi Mikel”, Rohr disclosed to SportingLife.ng.

The Eagles Coach also praised Musa’s teammates in the Eagles who have been having good relationship with him on and off the field of play.

“I think Musa’s teammates in the Eagles should also share in this moment of joy since they have been providing quality support for him on and off the field of play in the Super Eagles.
