NFF, Istanbul in accord over Okechukwu’s release

Nigeria Football Federation and Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir have reached agreement over the availability of Dream Team VII skipper Azubuike Okechukwu for the upcoming Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Head coach, Imama Amakapabo, has previously complained about the none availability of invited foreign base players in their Abuja training camp.
Okechukwu is one of the players the Chief Coach of the team Imama Amakapabo is banking on for the Olympics qualifying tournament in Egypt, but the Club is not interested in releasing the player for the Championship, because it’s part of the FIFA calendar.

However,  Basaksehir have now agreed to release to the Nigerian Federation, but it will be for the games that will hold 11-19 November, because that’s the dates free for international matches this month.

Should Okechukwu named in the final squad for the your, he will be available for the game against Zambia and South and miss the clash Ivory Coast (Nov. 9).

The former Bayelsa United star played a prominent role in the Dream Team VI qualifications for the Under-23 AFCON AFCON in Egypt.

The tournament will kick off in November 2nd with Nigeria competing in Group B alongside South Africa, Zambia and Cote d’ivore.
