Nigeria Customs B/ball team arrives Egypt for African Championship

Ahead of the Africa Women’s Basketball League starting on Monday in Egypt, FIBA Africa Zone 3 Champions, Nigeria Customs have arrived Cairo.

Customs, who were champions of FIBA Africa Zone 3, will be joined by ASPAC as representatives from the zone to the championship taking place in Cairo, Egypt from December 11.

The team will be expecting the likes of Tomi Taiwo to continue her fine form after she emerged the 2023 Afrobasket Champion and best 3pt shooter. She was instrumental in their success at the qualifiers in Abuja having scored 15pts, 4/10 from deep in their win over ASPAC.

The FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women, now rebranded as the FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League is a competition that features the champions of the respective women’s leagues across Africa.

The champions from each FIBA Africa Zones played the qualifiers within their respective zones to determine who represent the zone.

Nigeria is grouped alongside Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Niger and Togo in Zone 3 (West Africa) with two slots for the country.

First Bank Basketball Club is the most decorated Nigerian basketball club at the continental level. The club has won two gold (2003,2009), one silver (2011) and seven bronze (1999, 2005,2006, 2008, 2015, 2016, 2017).
