No goal celebration for Ndidi versus Burnley

 

There will be no goal celebration by Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in the event that he makes the squad and finds the net in Leicester City’s premier league tie against Burnley on Saturday.

Ndidi was left out of Coach Gernot Rohr’s 23-man team ahead of the AFCON clash against Bafana Bafana of South Africa and a friendly match against Cranes of Uganda after picking two yellow cards against Seychelles and Libya respectively.

His National team and club teammate Kelechi Iheanacho however made the list expected to camp briefly at in Asaba before departing for South Africa for the must win encounter on November 17.

The no goal celebration music decision was taken by the club in continuation of mark of respect for their late owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The match against Burnley will be Leicester’s first at the King Power Stadium since the helicopter crash which killed Srivaddhanaprabha and four others on October 27.

Since 2014, Leicester have played Kasabian’s song “Fire” after every home goal.

The club is conscious to set the right tone in the stadium, with the lyrics to the song including the phrase “I’m on fire”.

A number of special tributes are planned ahead of the game with Burnley, including a solidarity walk being staged by supporters, where up to 20,0000 people will march from the city centre to the King Power Stadium.

The LCFC Foxes Foundation, which supports Leicestershire-based causes and builds relationships in the local community, has already been renamed The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation in honour of the club’s late owner.

The Leicester playing squad arrived back in England on Tuesday after attending the funeral of Srivaddhanaprabha in Bangkok.

Manager Claude Puel was also in attendance, along with director of football Jon Rudkin, chief executive Susan Whelan, and other Leicester directors. Leicester City are 10th on the log with 16 points in 11 matches played so far . The King Power Stadium  landlords will be heading into Saturday’s match fresh from away victory to Cardiff, in a tie in which Ndidi was in action for full 90 minutes.
