NPFL: Maikaba can take Rangers to the continent, says Chukwu

Former captain, coach, and General Manager of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Rangers International F.C, Chief Christian Chukwu Mfr., has sounded it loud that the current head of the technical team of the club, Coach Abdul Maikaba, has what it takes to lead the team back to the continent at the end of the 2021/2022 NPFL season.

In an exclusive chat, the former Harambee Stars of Kenya and Super Eagles of Nigeria gaffer said that with the brand of football put on display by the boys of the Enugu side in the first round of the season goes a long way to show that Rangers remains the club to beat as all their matches have been away from home.

“I am very proud of Ranger’s performance in the first round of the season knowing fully that they have been playing all their matches away from their Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, home. I praise the coach, Maikaba, he is doing very good work with the team. I believe that as the second round beckons, he should look around and get more quality legs to shore up the area where we are lacking. I see him getting the first or second position at the end of the season,” stated the legend of the game.

The septuagenarian further said, “With the movement from Nnewi to Awka as a temporal home for the moment, I don’t see us complaining of the bad pitch as was the case in Nnewi where vital points were dropped. With the result from our first game in Awka, people should be prepared to see a different Rangers in this second round with the brand of football that will be on display. Coach Maikaba has the quality to take us to the continent at the end of the season.”

Rangers will commence the second round of the season with a road trip to Makurdi to engage Lobi Stars F.C which fell 5-3 in the last match of the first round on Sunday, April 3, 2022, inside the main bowl of Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.
