NRG vs CMR : Fans Query Eagles Closed Door Training, Distrust Rohr

Football fans in Nigeria are concerned about the not too impressive performance of the Super Eagles during the group stage of the Africa Nations Cup in Egypt, and would not buy-in a closed door training approach planned by the national team handlers as the Eagles get set for a knockout tie against Cameroon on Saturday.

According to the national handlers, the Super Eagles will only have a 30-minutes open training session, split into a 15-minutes session on Wednesday and on Friday, while it will be a closed door training both in the morning and in the evening on Thursday (today).

The media, spectators and fans will not be allowed to observe the Eagles training session till the match-day, saves the 15-minutes allotted sessions as planned the Eagles managers led by German Coach for the last 16 stage of this year’s biennial championship.

The Super Eagles struggled to record slim victory in their first two matches against Burundi and Guinea, and could not salvage a victory against tournament debutante; Madagascar in their third match group stage of the championship.

Fans confidence, consequently has become shattered and would need it restored before the Saturday evening match. They could not hold back their concerns and feelings about the Eagles foreign handler approach so far in the tournament, the planned closed door training sessions and their quest to see the Eagles soar for the fourth Africa Nations Cup.

“Your unproductive tactics is alien to our national team,” the fans generally enthused on Wednesday in their tweets to the Nigeria Football Federation and on the Super Eagles media handles.

It is with heartbreak that I write this. Rohr has successfully turned an entertaining Super Eagles to a defence minded, back playing, never scoring birds with acute inconsistencies per match & high risk of hypertension for every Soccer fan. Can we get another Coach? A good one?

Since we don’t have a creative midfielder, can we just play 4-2-4? That is 2 strikers, 2 wingers who have the ability of tracking back and also support the midfield. Our formation and tactics currently is blunt. Our play is too slow and the striker always lonely upfront.
