Olympic Qualifier: Oshoala, Ordega, ready for Cote d’voire

Newly appointed Super Falcons Captain and Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala has confirmed to the Nigeria Football Federation that she will be available for the African 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifier both home and away matches billed for 3rd October in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and 6th October in Lagos, Nigeria.

This confirmation was made known by the NFF head of female department Ruth David, who also revealed that other foreign-based players have made their intention known to be part of the second round matches against Cote d’ Voire are China base Francisca Ordega, Ngozi Okobi, Ohale Osinachi, Okeke Chidima Ajibade Rashidat and Uchendu Chinasa

The seven foreign-based footballers will join eleven home-based players to be picked from the 28 in camp before departure on 30th September.
“For now the federation is doing everything possible to ensure that the players are comfortable in other to achieve a good result in Abidjan. The coach is working hard and the players are responding positively. For now no injury in camp. The foreign players are expected to join the camp this week in Abuja. Nigerians should pray for the team. Cote d’Ivoire is a good side but they will not be a problem to us. The target is for Nigeria to qualify for the Olympics,,” Ruth said

She also revealed that the Super Falcons will play 5 round of qualifiers because Africa was given one automatic ticket and the runner- up slot after the 5th round will face Chile in the playoff to determine the final ticket for the female Olympic football event.
