Onyekuru completes Olympiacos permanent switch at knockdown price

Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru has finally completed a permanent transfer to Greek champions Olympiacos after agreeing a knockdown price to AS Monaco.

The Super Eagles forward, 24, has signed a four-year contract, according to Olympiacos with initial reports suggesting he will play for the Athens giants on loan.

However, Olympiacos, who will feature in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, splashed out €4.5 million for him, which is a huge knockdown price to the €13.5 million Monaco splashed out two years ago.

It is also well below his transfer market value of €7 million.

His transfer to Monaco did not go to plan as he failed to establish himself at the French Ligue 1 outfit and he was shipped out on two loan switches to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Galatasaray did not active the buy-out option to sign him permanently for €4.3 million the end of last season.

Interestingly, Monaco have confirmed Onyekuru’s departure, while wishing him the best in the future.
