Onyekuru fires Brace To send warning signals to South Africa

Super Eagles  forward. Henry Onyekuru on Saturday declared his readiness for the Country’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on November 17 after grabbing a brace for Turkish side,  Galatasaray as they defeated Kayserispor 3-0 in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Nigerian international who has replaced injured Odion Ighalo ahead of the crucial fixture scored in the 18th minute to end his goal drought after six league matches. His last goal was against Alanyaspor on August 27 which  Galatasaray won 6-0.

Kayserispor played with 10 men following the sending off Tiago Lopes for a second bookable offence.

His second goal came in the 75th minute when he outran his opponent before taking a shot from a close range which found the back of the net.

He was however booked for the goal celebration for pulling his shirt by the centre referee. Teammate Omer Bayram scored Galatasaray’s third two minutes before full time.

Onyekuru who is expected in the Eagles camp in Asaba on Monday has now scored three goals from 10 league match.

Meanwhile Onyekuru has hailed his colleagues for the victory.

“No better way to bounce back from the set back in the week. Great team spirit a clean sheet and two goals ⚽⚽. All Glory to God! ❤💛🦁,” he posted on Twitter.

Following the victory, Galatasaray are second with 23 points from 12 games behind league leaders  Istanbul Basaksehir. They will face Konyaspor after the international break on the November 23.
