Plans To Sack Rohr Thickens

The clamour for the sack of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, if he refuses to live in Nigeria to develop the domestic league players heightened on Sunday when the Rivers State Football Association (RSFA’s) Barrister Christopher Green challengedthe Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to dispense the German’s deal and get a part- time coach to do Nigerian’s bidding for the local league.

Green’s missive gained momentum against the backdrop of Rohr’s claims after Aiteo Cup final game between Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars inside the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba last week Wednesday that he didn’t see any player worthy of the Super Eagles shirt in South of the fact that both teams exhausted the mandatory 14
players available to both teams during matches amounting to 28.

According to Green on Sunday: “Godwin, sincerely I sincerely commend the NFF for his less than average performance in Russia. The guy is indeed lucky and I don’t know how we swing this one. In other countries Rohr would have either have left following his end of contract and poor performance or asked to leave by the authorities. We wait to see the benefit of this extensive stay.

If he was a Nigerian he would have been sacked. Rohr need to repay this gesture by residing in Nigeria to see games like other coaches, select talents from the domestic league, open camp and develop the players. If he can’t reside in Nigeria then we have a part time coach.”

Green added that the NFF must ensure that Rohr is given all the necessary materials to make him reside in Nigeria, open periodic camps, scout our players in the domestic league and develop them.

He should instill confidence in our domestic players and give them.the opportunity fight for places in the Super Eagles. He should also be made to take in the CHAN competition as well as encourage the transition of age grade team players to the Super Eagles.

But NFF first vice chaiman Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi pleased with Green to tarry a while since some of the issues that he raised we’re addressed during the board Annual General Assembly held in Asaba last Wednesday adding that: “Very fine rhetoric Chris and a lot of it may well ring true, we could argue others but I won’t.

You, however, know that the process for the change which we seek must first be approved by the board but ultimately approved by Congress.

“Both Board meeting and Congress were held only last week alongside the preparation for and I dare say successful hosting of the Female and Male Aiteo Cup Finals. Tarry a short while for the train to leave the station. It’s not how soon it leaves, it’s how ready it is to leave, how efficiently and successfully it gets to the destination. Trust me that you will be surprised when it berths at the destination, this is a legacy issue,” Akinwunmi said.
