Pogba says Messi is ‘far above the rest’

Barcelona vs Manchester United is probably the pick of the Champions League quarter-final ties.

United produced a minor miracle to get past Paris Saint-Germain in the second-leg of their last-16 clash but have been rewarded with a clash against Lionel Messi and co.

Following the draw, plenty of United fans and players would have been watching Barca’s next fixture – Sunday’s La Liga game against Real Betis.

But they wouldn’t have enjoyed what they saw.

That’s because Lionel Messi produced a masterclass, scoring an incredible hat-trick during Barca’s 4-1 win.

The likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young would have been hiding behind their sofas.

But one player that is relishing facing Barcelona is Paul Pogba.

“Barcelona are a team I always watch. You can always learn as a midfielder, I like watching football. Their system, their culture…it can always help me,” he told Eurosport.

“Barcelona is a great team, one of the best in the world. They have extraordinary players.

“It’s a match where I want to have fun. Playing against one of the best teams in the world is always a pleasure. It’s a team I lost against in the Champions League Final [2015, Juventus], but it’s always good to play against the best.

And Pogba also reserved special praise for Messi.

“He is the best of all,” Pogba said of the Argentine.

“Barca have great players and, above all, an extraordinary one that is far above the rest.”

After Messi’s performance against Betis, it’s pretty hard to disagree with Pogba.

Although a certain Cristiano Ronaldo may have something to say about that…
