Rangers’ Nigerian legion await new manager as Gerrard exits

 

It waiting game for Nigerian legion in Rangers and their teammates as the club continues in their quest for a new coach following the departure of Steven Gerrard.

The trio of Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey enjoyed impressive relationship with Gerrard while he was at the helm of affairs and were eager to put in their best to achieve needed result.

Though Aribo and Balogun are currently on national assignment as they prepare to battle Liberia in the World cup qualifiers tomorrow, they will no doubt be monitoring events to see who steps into the saddle.

Interestingly former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and Dean Smith currently in what has been dubbed a two horse race to fill the vacant post as Norwich manager have equally be named in the list of coaches being considered by Rangers.

Others who have been mentioned include former Scotland and Rangers defender Russell Martin who is currently in charge of Swansea and former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes who had been considered as far back as 2017 when he was to have replaced Pedr Caixinha at the Ibrox and who has recently left Aberdeen after eight years among others. Gerrard while at the helm did not hide his admiration for his Nigerian imports who help in winning the league and breaking Celtic domination.
