Registration dilemma: Barca sets August 30th solution date

FC Barcelona have played the first two games of the 2023-24 season, but some of their players are still not registered.

The club was aiming to get all its squad members registered before the La Liga campaign kicked off, but these registrations were to be done only after obtaining the money from the Libero Football Fund, which the club will not get before the last days of August.

Thus, players like Marcos Alonso, Inaki Pena, and Inigo Martinez, who are all in the plans of Xavi for the next season, have not yet been registered by the Catalan club.

The latest news about these registrations with La Liga has been provided by SPORT, which claims that Barcelona are working to get the remaining players registered before 30th August. These players include current Barcelona players like Marcos Alonso, Inaki Pena, Inigo Martinez, and also a player who is yet to join the club, Joao Cancelo.

Cancelo is yet to be signed on loan from Manchester City, but this operation is expected to be completed this week. The club is working to complete his transfer by Friday so that the player can be presented and make his debut against Osasuna if Xavi deems it appropriate.

FC Barcelona have set this deadline so they do not enter the last days of August with any uncertainty about the involvement of these players in the upcoming season. It is not clear whether these players will be available to Xavi for the Villareal clash, but the club believes they can participate in the following match against Osasuna.

Barcelona are counting on getting €60 million from their latest lever, which would be enough to register all these players. The departure of Clement Lenglet would provide the club with some further space on the wage bill, which the club can utilize to bring in an attacking player, either an attacking midfielder or a striker.
