Revealed: Why I left Inter Milan – Sanchez

Olympique Marseille forward Alexis Sanchez reflected on his departure from Inter, revealing the confused reaction from his former teammates.

The Chilean veteran spent three years with the Nerazzurri from 2019 to 2022, initially joining on loan from Manchester United before arriving permanently on a free transfer a year later.

During his time with the club, Sanchez scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists in 109 games, helping the team win a Scudetto, a Supercoppa Italiana and a Coppa Italia.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sanchez looked back at his exit from Inter last summer and how his former teammates felt.

“Some teammates at Inter told me that I could still be useful and that they didn’t understand why I left but that’s football, I wanted to play.

“However, I thank the people of Inter, I experienced good things in that locker room, now I am happy here in Marseille and every now and then, however, I hear from some former teammates, I get messages saying ‘Bravo Nino’.”

In his last season in the Lombardy capital, under coach Simone Inzaghi, he was mostly used as a bench option, making just seven Serie A starts across his 866 league minutes.

Sanchez has found a new lease of live in south France, playing 2199 minutes of action across 29 appearances for Marseille this season. He’s scored 13 goals in that time, being an important part of Igor Tudor’s attack.
