Rohr sack not on the cards-NFF

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has been told that his job is not threatened following the 2-0 loss to Croatia in Kaliningrad on Saturday.

But the manager was tasked with correcting the flaws noticed during the Croatian game and come up with tactics that will make the Icelanders walk out of the pitch in the second game on Friday, when Nigeria confronts Iceland in the second Group D game.

Whispers from the team camp in Kaliningrad revealed that the players and coaches were reassured of government support rather than being chastised, with many pundits arguing that the players had their off-day against the Croatians.

In fact, the proprietor of Ifeanyi Ubah FC, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah pleaded with disappointed Nigerians at the stadium to give the players their support insisting that there were still two matches to play and that the players have learned their lessons.

When Sportinglife.ng contacted the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick over the likely sack of the team s manager, Rohr, he said, Not true.

Prodded with the question if Rohr would still remain as the manager if Nigeria exits the World Cup at the group stage, Pinnick first said, God forbid we exit at the group stage. I wont sack him. We will rebuild,.
