Ronaldo ‘mocked’ Messi with ultimate dad joke in tunnel

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have had the utmost respect for one another throughout their playing careers.

But it’s fair to say they have always been rivals, battling it out for football’s biggest prizes from cups and titles to domestic accolades.

In 2018 Ronaldo was at Real Madrid, waiting in the Bernabeu tunnel before heading onto the pitch to take on Valencia.

He was greeted by a starstruck mascot, who couldn’t wait to have a chat with his hero and explain to Ronaldo how much he looks up to him.

Tunnel cam caught the conversation between the youngster and Ronaldo, as the mascot revealed his thoughts on the world’s best players.

The mascot said: “For me, you are the best player in the world and Messi…”

The youngster was then interrupted by Ronaldo, who couldn’t help but take a cheeky swipe at his rival with the ultimate dad joke.

“…Is bad!” added Ronaldo, prompting laughter from his team-mates.

Ronaldo has spoken out about Messi in the press on a number of occasions and has only ever had kind things to say about the Argentine.

Reflecting on their careers in 2019, Ronaldo said: “We have shared the stage 15 years.

“I don’t know if that’s happened before – the same two guys on the same stage all the time.

“Of course, we have a good relationship. We haven’t had dinner together yet, but I hope in the future. We had that battle in Spain. I pushed him and he pushed me as well. So it’s good to be part of the history of football.”
