Chieftains of the Nigeria Football federation (NFF) have denied making any secret move for Chelsea loanee to Swansea Tammy Abraham to play for Super Eagles at the Russia 2018 World Cup, beginning with the country’s opening game against Croatia on June 16.

When Sportinglife.ng sought to know the veracity of claims in the international media on Monday that Nigerian officials met secretly with an unnamed player, which the report insinuated could be Abraham, the NFF chief replied our text message thus: ”Nope.”

The Glasshouse chiefs were miffed with the way Abraham rubbished their efforts to get him to play for nigeria after he agreed to switch his allegiance to Nigeria in the international media, insisting that: ”Abraham has burnt his candle on both ends. He embarrassed Nigeria wiht his denial, after agreeing in principle.

”In fact, he told the international media that he won’t play for Nigeria. And pledged his allegiance to England, which is fine with us in the federation. Nigeria has moved beyond Abraham, please.”

Asked further if anyone spoke with any of the Nigeria-born Chelsea FC lads, he said: ”Not to my knowledge. The manager hasn’t told me about anyone yet. until he does that, I consider the media talk as mere specualtions. it is alowed. This is what we hear during the build-up to the Mundial. I’m not surprised.
