Juventus have been dealt a major injury blow after Sami Khedira was ruled out for three months after undergoing knee surgery.
It was announced on Tuesday that the former Real Madrid star would go under the knife after tests highlighted an issue with the ligaments in his left knee.
The German midfielder could not play in the 2-2 draw with Sassuolo last weekend due to the problem and now his recovery from surgery will see him sidelined until after Christmas.
Khedira, who has been a regular in midfield under manager Maurizio Sarri, was operated on successfully by Professor Ulrich Boenisch in Augsburg.
In a statement Juventus said the procedure was ‘perfectly successful and the player will be able to start rehabilitation immediately.’
Khedira has made 17 competitive appearances for Juventus this season, failing to score a goal but registering one assist.

The 32-year-old has been a pivotal player for the Italian giants since arriving from the Bernabeu in 2015 on a free transfer.
