Saturday Boxing Show: Amateur boxers to thrill fans at Rowe Park

Lagos amateur boxers will once again battle it out for supremacy at the Monthly Saturday Boxing Show tomorrow. The tournament – which never fails to thrill the fans-is hosted by Lagos Amateur Boxing Association at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Center, Rowe Park.
The boxing extravaganza, which will be holding its 99th edition is the longest running boxing tournament in Nigeria. It has been held every month since its inception in 2007 and is organized by Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame chaired by Olawale Edun.
The boxers would be drawn from boxing clubs across Lagos; Clubs like Supreme (Ajegunle), Hard Punch (Lagos Island), Brightest & Olu-Omo (Ojo), Always (Bariga), Kamlat (Oyingbo) and Metallic Power (Ikorodu).
The show will begin with Kayode Mubarak from Kamlat Boxing Club square up against Hamed Lawal of Hard Punch Boxing Club in the 49kg category.
The 56kg category will see Rilwan Mustapha of Olu-Omo Boxing Club in the red corner exchange punches with Kareem Taofeek of Brightest Boxing Club.
In the Female 51kg bout, Blessed Boxing Club’s Ayisat Oriyomi will try to out-punch Shukurat Kareem from Brightest Boxing Club while Toheeb Hassan from Smart Boxing Club in another 56kg category will face Abeeb Obayemi of Aso Rock Boxing Club.
Other bouts scheduled to hold will see Afeez Abiodun of Owonikoko Boxing Club face Kamlat Boxing Club’s Kazeem Saka while Jimoh Afeez from Metallic Power Boxing Club and Afeez Osoba of Confidence Boxing Club will slug it out in the 69kg category.
The 54kg female category will see Mutiat Akanbi from Kamlat Boxing Club fight Owonikoko Boxing Club’s Abibat Alufoge in the show’s second female event.
