Sergio Ramos insists he still has a lot to offer PSG

Sergio Ramos believes he still  has a point to prove at Paris Saint-Germain after a frustrating first season.

The 36-year-old defender, who came over on a free transfer from Real Madrid last summer, played just 573 minutes of football in 10 games during his first campaign at the Parc des Princes.

The Spain international has had a string of injury setbacks since his arrival and will be given the chance to show what he can bring to the PSG side.

‘I spent’ [too] few hours on the pitch this season in the PSG jersey,” Ramos told the club Youtube Channel.

“I am in the prime of my career and want to show my new team, Paris Saint-Germain, how much football I have in me.”

Ramos scored a pumped-up goal after scoring in Ligue 1’s 3-0 win over Angers last week and said it was ‘a reflection of the sacrifice I’ve had to make’.

While PSG medical staff compared his physical condition to that of a man ten years his junior when he signed, Ramos suffered a calf injury, which prevented him from making his first competitive appearance for PSG in November.

Further muscle problems forced him to miss a further four games in December before a relapse of the calf problem left him with seven league games plus both legs of the Champions League defeat of the last 16 against his former club Real.

Ramos is finally fully fit again and has started three of PSG’s last five league games, securing a new championship.

The defender has admitted it took some time to adjust to his new life in Paris, after spending some 16 years with Real Madrid.

‘In the beginning it was difficult to adapt. I had been with another club for years, where you had everything under control; the club, the house, the children’s school,’ he said.

“It was not so easy to get to a spectacular city like Paris. It was difficult for us to find a house.

“As for the team, it was quick to adapt because I knew some players, like Keylor Navas.
