Super Eagles No 1 Okoye celebrates Team of Season selection
Super Eagles No 1 goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has reacted to his selection in Team of Season in Holland.
He said he is delighted by the nomination and gave all the glory to God.
His citation following his selection read: “With competitors such as Remko Pasveer from Vitesse and Sergio Padt from FC Groningen, the choice was not easy, but Okoye had a great season at Sparta in the shadows.
“The only 21-year-old Nigerian was only beaten 35 times in 28 games and kept clean sheet 10 times, impressive figures for a goalkeeper from Sparta.

“Earlier this week, he kept his team going at FC Utrecht (0-0) with a few fine saves, which turned out to be crucial for reaching the play-offs.
“Robert Maaskant mentioned the 1 meter 97 long last week at RTV Rijnmonda ‘crazy athlete’, while Kees Kwakman put him at the top of his top three revelations in the Eredivisie.
“He is very interesting. He came over from Fortuna Düsseldorf for zero Euros! Really a great goalkeeper.”
