Super Eagles vs Atletico: Ajanah ready to cage Torres

Fernando “El Nino” Torres should be prepared to meet a brickwall when Atletico Madrid face the Super Eagles B side in a glamour friendly at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, according to Katsina United defender Chinedu Ajanah.

The former ABS FC youngster has been in fantastic form this season, scoring twice in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Ajanah, who is nicknamed ‘General’ is renowned for his clean tackles and did not pick any yellow card throughout the first stanza of the league from his center back position.

Atletico Madrid on Wednesday lifted the Europa League courtesy a 3-0 victory over Ligue 1 side Marseille with Antoine Griezmann scoring a brace and Captain Gabi netting the other goal while Torres scored a brace in their final La Liga fixture at the weekend.

“I’m super excited for the invitation and I give glory to Almighty God who made it possible,” Ajanah told SportingLife.ng.

“Atletico Madrid just won the Europa League and they are a very good side to play against. I feel confident and ready to go if am picked by the Coach.

“I’m looking forward to face Torres. He is a great footballer and I’ve watched him over the years playing for both Chelsea and Liverpool. He is a legend and I hope to give him a tough game.”

Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed recently that Atletico Madrid won’t be paid for the friendly like Barcelona was paid for their match against Mamelodi Sundowns during the Mandela Centenary Cup in Johannesburg.
