Ten Hag wants me in midfield when we have the ball – Malacia

Tyrell Malacia says he held positive conversations with Erik ten Hag before signing for Manchester United and revealed his new manager wants him to push into midfield when the team is in possession.

“I spoke to him a lot, two or three times,” left-back Malacia told Sky Sports.

“We had some good conversations about football, about myself and about him.

“Also about how he sees me which was an important thing for me in joining the club.”

Asked if Ten Hag wants him to play almost as an extra midfield player in his system, Malacia added: “Yeah, that’s what the coach wants from me and at my former club, I played the same style so for me it’s easier to fit into this system.”
