Transfer: Inter contracts ready, but not for Dumfries

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Federico Dimarco are reportedly on the verge of agreeing new contracts with Inter, but the Denzel Dumfries situation is more complicated.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, coach Simone Inzaghi expects to see his two key players locked down to new deals over the Christmas break.

Mkhitaryan is set to maintain his current salary of €3.9m per season net, aided by the Growth Decree that saw him originally make the move to Roma.

It remains to be seen if it will be a two-year contract or a one-year with option to extend until June 2025.

As for Dimarco, the wing-back and fan favourite is ready to double his salary to €4m plus bonuses until June 2028, with no release clause included.

However, the same report suggests that Dumfries is asking for over €5m per season and negotiations will resume after Christmas.

That is a good €1m more than the offer on the table from Inter, and considering the Dutch international has many interested clubs in the Premier League, it would not be a big sacrifice to sell him next summer.

The 27-year-old wing-back is under contract until June 2025 and was signed from PSV Eindhoven for just €14.25m in 2021.

His asking price is now well over double that figure.
