Transfer window: ‘How Mbappe shunned Klopp’s calls many times’ about Liverpool move

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, called Kylian Mbappe “many times” before the striker signed a new deal with PSG last week.

With his contract running down, Mbappe was expected to move to Real Madrid this summer. However, the France star stunned football by performing a U-turn and signing a new three-year contract with PSG.

Local journalist Abdellah Boulma revealed Liverpool were also in frame, where Klopp is on good terms with Mbappe’s father Wilfred.

Boulma told Sport.fr: “There was a third protagonist, Liverpool, even if this track was quickly put aside.

“Klopp called Mbappé many times, but the last two choices were PSG and Real Madrid.”
