Tunisia came with a game plan to out-smart Nigeria, says Okocha

It is no longer news that Nigeria crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations after losing 0-1 to Tunisia, former Super Eagles skipper Austin Jay Jay Okocha said the north Africans deserved to forge ahead in the tournament.

Speaking on Supersport on Sunday, Okocha said the Tunisians were tactically disciplined and they proved it by stopping Super Eagles in the round of 16.

“I would like to congratulate Tunisia for their bravely and tactical approach to the match.  Football is a very interesting game where the most tactical side utilises every opportunity to win the game. It’s unfortunate Nigeria had to gout of the competition this way and I think we must have learned something from this defeat,” Okocha said.

Covid-hit Tunisian side proved book-makers wrong to outwit the tournament favourites, Nigeria in the keenly contested round of 16 encounter on Sunday.

Tunisia waited till 47th minute before unleashing their match joker to silence ambitious Super Eagles who strolled into the round of 16 with an unbeaten record.
