UCL: Liverpool vs Leipzig second leg will not hold at Anfield

The second leg of Liverpool and RB Leipzig’s Champions League last-16 second leg has been switched from Anfield to Budapest due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

The first leg was also held in Hungary, at the Puskas Arena were the second leg will now be hosted, with Liverpool winning 2-0 as the away team.

The tie will continue with the away goals rule despite both games being played in the same stadium.

The European football authority said in a statement on Thursday morning: “Uefa is able to officially confirm that the Champions League round of 16 second leg match between Liverpool and RB Leipzig will now be played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.”

Both the date and kick-off time – March 10, 2021 at 8pm GMT – remain unchanged.

Leipzig had been informed by the German government of the need to quarantine upon return from Anfield, should the second leg gone ahead as originally planned.
