Virgil van Dijk to make April return

 

Hard working Virgil van Dijk is set to be back in action for Liverpool this April but the Reds will have to wait longer for Joe Gomez’s return.

The Dutchman has been out of action since October, having picked up an ACL tear in the Merseyside derby.

While his centre-back partner joined him a month later, with the Englishman suffering a serious knee injury on international duty.

The Premier League champion’s £75m defender has kept fans updated with his recovery, flying off to Dubai’s world-class Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex for rehabilitation.

And the Mirror have reported that Van Dijk’s hard work will have paid off in three months’ time

Working seven days a week, the 29-year-old was expected to be out for the entire season with his injury but is now “targeting” April for his return to action.

And it has even seen medical staff at the Dutch Football Federation tell manager Frank de Boer that the defender can be part of his plans for Euro 2022.

While Van Dijk has used his own team of physiotherapists for the most efficient road back to fitness, it will be the Reds who make the final decision on their centre back.
