W/Cup qualifiers: Super Eagles set for shape up friendly with Ghana , Mali

Super Eagles will be having a double header friendly matches with Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali in Marrakech, the NFF communication department has confirmed

The Eagles will take on Black Stars on 22 March and face Eagles of Mali in a battle of Eagles on  26 March. Although the setting and scenerio are not the same the Eagles will looking to have a revenge from the heartbreaking defeat they suffered in the hands of Black Stars of Ghana, forcing them to miss the last World Cup in Qatar.

After a goalless draw in Kumasi, the Black Stars held the Eagles to a 1-1 draw in Abuja to quantify for the World Cup.

For the Malians, the last time they faced the Eagles was in 2016 in a friendly. Leicester forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, got the only goal as the Eagles won 1-0.

The new arrangement will ensure that the Super Eagles currently searching for new Head Coach following the departure of Jose Peseiro who lead the team to second best AFCON finish in Cote d Ivoire have an opportunity to converge and blend again before the world cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.

Recall that the Eagles were billed to face Argentina in a friendly in China but the friendly was cancelled following brouhaha over Lionel Messi no show in a game between Inter Miami and Hong Kong selected 11.

The match was moved to Los Angeles but was eventually cancelled due to what organisers dubbed difficult logistic reasons.
